The Beaches

With over 70 miles of sandy beaches, it’s tough to argue against a beach outing being the top activity for kids in the city. Whether they’re splashing around in the surf, building sandcastles, or enjoying a picnic, kids are sure to have a blast. San Diego Zoo

The world-famous San Diego Zoo is a top contender in the kid-friendly activity department with its 100 acres housing more than 3,500 rare and endangered animals. Nestled in beautiful Balboa Park (link to Balboa Park post), this amazing zoo can be seen in many different ways – from a guided tour on a double-decker bus to a scenic view from an aerial tram to a fun ride on a miniature train. Kids are sure to spot their favorite animals in zoo zones ranging from the Panda Trek to the Australian Outback to the Elephant Odyssey!

Old Town San Diego

Old Town San Diego is considered the birthplace of California with the earliest settlements being established here in 1769. Kids can get a taste for Mexican-American culture in the 1800s while running around the historic buildings and cannons that have stood for over 200 hundred years. Old Town also offers some of the best Mexican food in the city, plenty of shops for souvenirs and local art, and even a store where kids can dip their own candles!

SeaWorld San Diego

Located in the heart of Mission Bay (link to the Mission Bay post), SeaWorld is sure to give kids a thrill with a variety of aquatic animal exhibits and a lineup of rollercoasters, water rides, and even a virtual reality expedition under the sea. Belmont Park

This historic amusement park in Mission Beach (Mission Beach link here) houses a range of attractions including the iconic Giant Dipper rollercoaster, laser tag, rock climbing walls, escape rooms, and mini-golf. Play, eat, shop, and hang out on the beach at this popular San Diego landmark!
