July 4: Fourth of July in San Diego

America’s Finest City celebrates America’s 242nd birthday! Numerous celebrations will be held all over the city. Stay tuned for our event guide.

July 13-15: San Diego Pride Festival 2018

San Diego Pride is a lively celebration of the LGBTQ community’s history and triumphs. The festival is held in Balboa Park and features dozens of food and drink booths, vendors, cultural exhibitions, and live music and entertainment. The Pride Parade, which is held in the neighboring community of Hillcrest, is the most popular event and draws a crowd of 200,000 people! The Parade is held on July 14.

July 18: Del Mar 2018 Opening Day

Come on down to where the surf meets the turf! The Del Mar horse-racing season kicks off in fun and fashionable style at the historic Del Mar racetrack. Check out the magnificent thoroughbreds horses, place a few bets, and party under the sun with live music and racing action. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your most extravagant hat! You could win more than $5,000 in prizes at the acclaimed Opening Day Hat Contest.

July 19-22: 2018 Comic-Con International: San Diego

The world’s largest pop-culture fan event is back! Celebrating its 48th year in San Diego, Comic-Con expects to draw an attendance of over 167,000 comic-book, science fiction, fantasy, and film fans from around the world––many of them dressed in spectacular costumes! No ticket? No problem! The Gaslamp Quarter hosts week-long Comic-Con events, parties, and festivities that are open to the public. It’s a big, superhero-studded block party! Every Friday (July 6, 13, 20, 27): Food Truck Fridays

Spend an evening in Balboa Park at Food Truck FridaysAmidst beautifully-lit Spanish architecture, you’ll find live entertainment, games, hands-on creative projects, and food trucks! The following museums have extended evening hours: Fleet Science Center, San Diego Natural History Museum, Japanese Friendship Garden, San Diego History Center, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of Man.

July 14: Family Overnight Aboard the Star of India

Sail into the past and spend a night aboard the world’s oldest operating sailing ship! Costumed characters will teach you all the tools and techniques to sailing a 19th Century vessel. Great fun for the kids! The Maritime Museum reminds you that accommodations are 19th Century in nature––expect it to be like a camping trip!

July 16: Swing Dance Under the Dome

Pack your dancing shoes and come learn how to swing dance at the breathtaking San Diego Central Library. Hosted by Swing Dancing San Diego, the evening begins with an introductory swing dancing class, followed by a swing dancing social. You’ll be dancing, of course, on the 9th story terrace rooftop––right beneath the library’s massive dome! It’s an evening of great music, great fun, and beautiful views of the San Diego cityscape.

July 21: Boarded! A New Pirate Adventure

Argh!! This hilarious, interactive show is the ultimate pirate experience! You’ll be sworn into a pirate crew and taught all the fundamentals of sword fighting, navigation, and great pirate escapes! Beware of mutiny and cursed treasure!

July 6: Spirits at Sunset aboard Flagship Cruises

July 12: Rum Runner Night @ Maritime Museum of San Diego

To celebrate the Maritime Museum’s newest exhibition, RUM: Sailors, Pirates, and Prohibition, this exciting event aboard the Historic Berkeley ferry will feature live music and dance, Cuban cuisine, and, of course, specialty craft rum cocktails by celebrity mixologist Havana 1920!

July 14: Horizon Beer and Music Festival

Taste over 40 craft beers from dozens of local breweries at the Embarcadero Marine Park! The proceeds benefit the Urban Angels “Nourishing Those in Need” program, which serves to aid the homeless. Enjoy food vendors, performances by up-and-coming DJ’s, and also a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist, RAC.
