Salute! Salud! Cheers!
Although the Chargers football team bolted to LA, San Diegans still get their electric feel at Bolt Brewery in Little Italy. Bolt offers an airy, sun-flooded tasting room that occupies a corner block on festive India Street. If you really want to catch some sun, there’s a sunny bar-seating area that’s super cozy on warm days. You can work on that tan while you’re sampling Bolt’s selection of beer and wine.
Many of the brews at Bolt are extraordinarily well-balanced. For instance, the tropical “Session IPA” is a fruity IPA for people-who-don’t-like-IPA’s. Similarly, the chocolatey “Brown Ale” is a smooth dark beer for people-who-don’t-like-dark beer. But hop heads will still appreciate the brewery’s choice of bitter options, such as the “North of the Border Porter” and the “Dan Stouts”. The latter, of course, is a punny reference to the famed Chargers quarterback.
On the other end of the spectrum, you’ll find a variety of fruiter brews, such as the “Mango Me Crazy”, “Loca Lemon”, and “Citrasaurus”. And right in the middle of the spectrum is the traditional “English Pale Ale”, which is one of the brewery’s most popular drinks.
Little Italy has a European flair, but don’t forget that you’re in the Southwest! And no Southwestern beer excursion is complete without trying a Mexican Lager (the terrific “Love Canoe”), or a classic West Coast IPA (the “OG IPA”). Bolt has nailed both of these classics.
If you really want to expand your beer palette, look no further than Bolt’s broad selection of smooth brews.
Come With An Appetite
Bolt has a number of mouthwatering burgers to choose from. But don’t overlook their zesty variety of taco dishes and unique appetizers (be sure to try the fried zucchini and parmesan garlic fries!). All the dishes feature ultra-fresh ingredients and they nicely compliment Bolt’s drink selection. Did you expect any less from a Little Italy joint?
And One More Thing…
Bolt has got a patio for dogs! Speaking of which, the Little Italy Dog Park is just a few blocks east of Bolt Brewery. Check it out if you want to make some furry friends!
How To Get There: When you Hop Off at Little Italy, remain on the same side of the street. Head north (toward the Little Italy sign) for three blocks. Bolt Brewery sits on the corner of India and Grape.
